SPECIAL EVENT – The Right to Safer Health & Care: Short Films + Discussion
Queer Wave is curating a special night of short films + discussions, as a response to an invitation from SAFER – a project promoting equitable healthcare practices in Cyprus that prioritise the rights and well-being of all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
The selection brings together four Queer Wave titles from the festival’s past three years. These films shed light on an intimate portrait of a young man living with HIV, the intersections between queer and crip, a cis and a trans woman growing old together as romantic partners, and the importance of supportive homes and inclusive healthcare systems to the wellbeing of trans people of all ages.

You Will Live (Mehdi Sahed / 2020 / France / 23’)

Hands and Wings (Sungbin Byun / 2019 / South Korea / 18’)

Lovin’ Her (day / 2024 / Canada, USA / 15’)

Teth (Nipple) (Peter Darney / 2024 / UK / 14’)
An informal discussion with the audience will take place after the films.
Speakers: Christos Krasidis (AIDS Solidarity Movement), Julia Andreou (Accept)
Moderator: Diego Armando Aparicio (Queer Wave)
This screening is organized as part of the SAFE-R – Safeguarding LGBTIQ+ People’s Right to Health project, co-funded by the European Union, in collaboration with Accept LGBTI Cyprus and curated by Queer Wave.
The SAFE-R project aims to prevent health discrimination and promote equitable healthcare practices for the LGBTIQ+ community in Cyprus.
